We are ‘hard science’ mined land rehabilitation consultants. Here’s a snapshot of what we get up to.
Certification of progressive rehabilitation at Meandu mine
Client: Stanwell Corporation
Year: 2021
Services provided:
- Statistical analysis of rehabilitation monitoring data
- Facilitation of risk assessments
- Scientific report writing (clear, concise, and precise)
- Client technical support during the application assessment process
We prepared a Progressive Rehabilitation Report in accordance with Queensland Government requirements. Our report demonstrated the conditions of the relevant environmental authority had been complied with, and the land had been satisfactorily rehabilitated and was in a stable condition. In addition to demonstrating compliance and successful land rehabilitation, our report described on-going land management requirements and presented a detailed assessment of environmental risks associated with the rehabilitation. Based on our report, the application for certification was approved by Queensland Government.

Determining and mapping pre-mining land suitability classes
Client: BHP
Year: 2020
Services provided:
- GIS mapping
- Agricultural land evaluation
- Our reference library of relevant soil and land resource information
We determined and mapped pre-mining land suitability classes for beef cattle grazing across every BHP-owned tenement in central Queensland, an area of more than 350,000 ha. Suitability classes were inferred from a hierarchy of information including land units by CSIRO, and agricultural management units, soil associations and land resources surveys by the Queensland Government. This large, variable data set was reinterpreted against contemporaneous evaluation guidelines for land suitability in Queensland.
Expert opinion in the Queensland Land Court

- Experience in Court Managed Expert Evidence (CMEE) rules.
- Joint expert meeting and reporting.
Our principal Terry Short provided expert opinion services to the Queensland Land Court about rehabilitation at a former gold/copper mine in north Queensland.
